NOTICE: TO ALL FAYETTE COUNTY TAX PAYERS
ALL BOARD OF EQUALIZATION HEARINGS ARE NOT CANCELED

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners closed county buildings to the Public but to the extent that any group or body meets at a facility it was up to that body to hold the meeting. Georgia statute requires the Board of Equalization hearings be held within the stated time frames. There is no remedy outlined in law for an emergency. This is NOT a judicial hearing and therefore NOT covered under the order issued by the Georgia Supreme Court.

What is the Fayette County Board of Equalization?

The Fayette County Board of Equalization is a three member panel comprised of Fayette County taxpayers.

They are appointed by the Fayette County Grand Jury and are not affiliated with the Fayette County Board of Assessors. The Fayette County Board of Equalization sets up appointments with Fayette County taxpayers in order to review appeals on Fayette County property tax assessments.

A decision by the Fayette County Board of Equalization will override the Fayette County Board of Assessors.
