The Clerk of the Superior Court is a Constitutional Officer, which means the position was created by an act of the Legislature in the State Constitution. The Clerk of the Superior Court has been a county Constitutional Officer since the framers of the Georgia Constitution of 1798 provided for election of the Clerk of Superior Court in each Georgia county. The Clerk is elected every four years.
The Clerk's role is as keeper of the records. The Clerk is responsible for protecting the integrity of public records and public funds, establishing an index and issuing every paper under the court seal.

The court calendar for the Griffin Judicial Circuit for January thru March 2012 has been released and is now available from this website. The circuit calendar has been posted on the calendar page for each Superior Court judge and under the Local Notice site. Please note the following abbreviations: F - Fayette, S - Spalding, P - Pike and U - Upson. The calendar is also available in the Clerk's Office at regular copy rates. Judge Hankinson has outlined procedures for any order which is submitted to him for consideration. All orders submitted must comply with USCR 36.4 and have a self addressed stamped envelop enclosed. For the full procedure see his letter under the Local Notices Menu on this site. To expedite signing, mail all proposed orders directly to Judge Hankinson's office in Griffin.
